Los Tres Chiflados (The Three Stooges), grupo cómico estadounidense, activo entre 1922 y 1970. El conjunto conoció varias formaciones, y sus integrantes más festejados son mejor conocidos por sus apodos que por sus nombres: Moe, Larry y Curly (Curley en algunas de las presentaciones de sus cortos), Shemp, Joe y Curly Joe. Se hicieron famosos por sus cortometrajes en donde cultivaron una comicidad basada en la violencia física y en el juego verbal. Este género se conoce bajo el nombre inglés de slapstick. Protagonizaron 190 cortos (de aproximadamente 16 minutos cada uno) para la empresa Columbia Pictures entre 1934 y 1958, los cuales, luego del cine, pasaron a la televisión, medio que los hizo conocer a las nuevas generaciones. Los Tres Chiflados siguen manteniendo en muchos países una inmensa popularidad. La larga permanencia del trío en actividad (cuarenta y ocho años) se debió no solamente a su popularidad fundamentada en su humor agresivo y verbal, sino en el lamentable hecho de que, por disposiciones contractuales, los Tres Chiflados no fueron propietarios de su obra sino meros empleados a tanto por semana. Esta circunstancia los obligó a actuar incansablemente hasta que las enfermedades, la vejez o la muerte los alejaron del cine.
